The spiritual race became profoundly evident when observing my daughter running at a cross country track meet. Each runner ran to win the race and obtain a prize. The first 20 individuals to cross the finish line were considered to be the winners.
However, the race was not over until every runner crossed the finish line, for a team score. The objective was to finish, whether first or last. Enduring to the end was key. May we each say, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Tim. 4:7).
Finishing the course can be achieved by keeping your eyes fixed on the finish line and praying for God’s direction to finish the course through his strength. Meditating on this verse, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthenth me” (Phil. 4:13) will remind you that you can and will finish the race.
